Greata Ranch was established in 1895 by British
immigrant George Greata. Although the property was later managed
by and then sold to the Long family, locals have long known the
site as "Greata Ranch".
The Senator had visited Greata with his father when he was a young
boy, he well remembered the magnificent peaches that he had sampled.
This knowledge served him well when the property came up for sale
in 1994. There was very little weather data on the property, but
remembering the wonderful fruit that had been grown successfully
gave him the insight that grapes would do well.
The first vines were planted in 1996 and the first harvest in
the fall of 1998. Since that time Greata Ranch Vineyards has produced
high quality grapes that have been showcased in many CedarCreek
wines. In the spring of 2003 the first of the Greata Ranch wines
were released under their own label and sold from the Greata location.
